The 19th edition of the Nigerian International Book Fair is set to hold from 1st to 7th September, 2020. This year’s virtual conference will be a week-long event “packed with intellectual discussions with world-class industry leaders”, and is scheduled to hold from 9 am to 5 pm daily. The book fair, open to exhibitors, publishers, authors, illustrators, booksellers, readers and other industry stakeholders, is created to making the book industry more sustainable.
This fair, organised by the Nigerian Book Fair Trust (NBFT) led by Gbadega Adedapo, also creates a platform for networking and interfacing with book industry persons in Nigeria and beyond. Book and book-related materials, both in print and electronic formats, will be showcased at this conference in addition to panels discussions.
The panel topic, “Information technology as the Panacea for book Industry Sustainability Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic” will be discussed by Hugo Setzer (IPA President), Dapo Fisauyo (Panelliist, Booksellers Association Of Nigeria), Mr Oluwatoyi Oluwadare (National president, Booksellers Association of Nigeria), Mr Anthony Kan Onwordi (Panellists, Association of Nigerian Authors), Mr Biodun Omotubi (Executive Secretary, NBFT), Professor Zakari Muhammed (Prof of Library and Information Science, ABU, Zaria) and Mr Fashanu Babatunde (Panellist CIPPON).
Professor Isa Ekoja (President, Nigeria Library Association) and Mrs Folorunsho Gasper, MLS, CLN, JP (Librarian Conference Speaker) will speak on “Approach to Library Services in the COVID 19 Era: Engagaing Users theorufgh Information and Communication Technology”. Also, Professor Bayo Agunbiade (Professor of Mathematical Sciences, Olabisi Onabanjo University) will lead the conversation on “Data Gathering and Processing as Determinants for Growth in the African Publishing Ecosystem”.
